Medical Matters Launches Online Video Network

AKRON, OH - February 11, 2008 - David Kettlewell and Charles Vehlow of MEDI announce the launch of MedicalMatters.tv, a new online TV network making health related shows available to viewers nationwide, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with shows posted for a year or more.

MedicalMatters.tv duplicates the successful formula of the local Medical Matters with Dave Kettlewell TV show on Time Warner Cable. Hosting a variety of health-related shows with different hosts, each having many episodes, the online network shows feature interviews with leading physicians and healthcare providers, healthcare executives, product manufacturers, elected officials, patients, and family members. The show’s medical director is Dr. Frank J. Weinstock, MD, FACS.

Topics to include the latest advances in medical treatments for diabetes, cancer, heart disease, depression and suicide prevention, mental illness, diet and exercise, and more.

The internet is an ideal platform for airing of medical shows, as it makes it easy for viewers to access programming at anytime.

Kettlewell launched the Medical Matters radio show in 2002. The show’s mission was the same as it is today: “to provide people with the information they need to protect their health.” Two years later, Time Warner Cable approached Kettlewell regarding creation of a TV version of the radio show, now distributed to 6.2 million households in 7 states, including distribution to 1.5 million households in NE Ohio.

Chuck Vehlow, director emeritus of Child Guidance & Family Solutions, Akron, serves as Senior Vice President of Program Development for the network. Said network CEO and host of the original Medical Matters TV show, David Kettlewell, “Mr. Vehlow has been a tireless advocate for public service programming on our shows over the last two years. Some of our best shows and ones I feel fulfill our mission best such as those on child depression and suicide prevention, were created through his efforts.”

Kettlewell continued, “If it had not been for the help of Time Warner Cable and their very real commitment to community service television programming on cable, our TV show would likely never have started. They’ve supported the show from the onset, and Bill Jasso and Tom Lukes of Time Warner Cable NE Ohio have provided assistance, mentoring and encouragement every step of the way.”

Said Barry Benjamin, stockholder and VP of National Network Programming Development, who has materially helped form the network’s mission, “The creation of the MedicalMatters.tv online internet network is the next logical step. Now viewers from all over the world can access this type of information 24 hours a day, when they need it most. It is an extension of our mission of service.”

Online video streams are quickly gaining popularity. By 2010, 157 million people are expected to watch streamed video and shows online with global revenue reaching $5.9 billion, cites eMarketer and Strategy Analytics. What’s more, according to the BurstMedia Online Insights report conducted in December 2007, seven out of 10 adult U.S. internet users are already viewing online video content.

”It is our hope that these shows will provide relevant information, comfort, and inspiration to those who seek assistance in maximizing their personal health, or the health of a friend or loved one,” said Vehlow.

MedicalMatters.tv is being developed through the partnership of Medical Matters and WhiteSpace Creative, an Akron, Ohio-based integrated marketing resource firm. Advertising and sponsored-content opportunities for
health-related manufacturers and service providers are readily available.
